Beauty students ready to set sail

(Left to Right): Coral Shaw, Holly Robinson and Gabby DingwallThree Beauty Therapy students from South Tyneside College are celebrating after securing employment with luxury cruise ship spa operator Steiner.

The three students, Coral Shaw, 21 from Hebburn, Holly Robinson, 19 from South Shields and Gabby Dingwall, 20 also from South Shields are all at the end of a two year Level 3 Beauty Therapy course.

The much sought after career and highly competitive interview process involved a presentation, a public speaking exercise – which took the form of simulating the sale of a skincare product and a back massage practical exercise.

Coral, said: “We are all absolutely delighted with the news.  It’s a career I’ve always wanted and Holly and Gabby feel the same.  We get to see the world and at the same time work in an industry we love.

“I can’t thank the lecturers at South Tyneside College enough for their support, they’ve all been great.  I just can’t wait to get started.  I don’t know where I’ll be going as there’s an initial training period then staff personalities are matched to individual cruise ships.”

Following a summer break the students will travel to London to begin an eight week training programme with Steiner, after which they will find out where in the world they will be travelling to.

Heather Fisher, Curriculum Leader for Beauty Therapy at South Tyneside College, said: “We are all incredibly proud - Holly, Gabby and Coral are exceptional students and have worked really hard to get where they want to be through a very tough and competitive selection process.

“The course they’ve followed is demanding, but three of our students securing jobs with a global company like Steiner is fantastic and demonstrates our commitment of supporting and preparing our students for employment.”
