College Visits
College visits are an ideal way of allowing students to experience life at South Tyneside College. They can tour the campus, see the facilities, and experience lectures or workshops; enabling a more informed decision about choices after school.
Many schools choose to bring their students to visit South Tyneside College, either on Open Evenings or for Campus tours. All tours are guided by Schools Liaison staff or student ambassadors and we can accommodate small or large groups as necessary. We can also tailor tours / visits to specific requirements and interests.
Specialist Talks and Job Shops
If you have a group of students who are all interested in a particular course, we can deliver presentations in those areas, providing information on the various courses on offer and routes available to get to their chosen career.
We can offer talks on any of our vocational areas. They will focus solely on entry requirements for the course, course content, assessment methods and progression opportunities. We will explain in depth and will happily answer any queries your students have.
Interactive Taster Sessions
We hold taster sessions in July of each academic year for mixed school groups. Students are invited in where they attend a hands-on workshop in their chosen area of study providing them with an insight into what the course involves.
Our Taster Sessions help students to identify the career options available once they have left school. They are able to take part in interactive activities within their chosen subject to see the type of things they will be doing at College and the type of careers they can progress on to. For example aspiring Beauty Therapy students may learn the basics of massage during their taster day, or Catering students may demonstrating basic cookery skills.
Application and Interview Workshops
For some students applying to College we recognise this can be a daunting task. Therefore, we can offer short workshops which help students to understand the application process. These are interactive sessions where we aim to have the students as involved as possible.
Attending your Careers Fair
Careers fairs, further and higher education events are a great opportunity for students to speak to our staff in an informal way to find out about our courses and facilities. Please contact us with details of your event and we will be in touch.
Community Events
We are available to get involved in community events around the borough. If you would like us to attend one of your events please contact us.
