This qualification is intended for post sixteen individuals who are interested in a helping/listening type role and/or anyone interested in entering this area of work.

- 02 Introduction to counselling skills theories
- 03 Diversity and ethics in the use of counselling skills
- 04 Counselling skills and personal development
This qualification is intended for post sixteen individuals who are interested in a helping/listening type role and/or anyone interested in entering this area of work.
The course is taught over 25 weeks at 3 hours each week. Plus, independent reading and research. Aim of the qualification is to equip the learner with:
- An awareness into counselling/support work type roles
- A knowledge and experience of the processes and development areas of self
- An underpinning knowledge of three human development theories
- A recognition of ethical practice within counselling/ support work type roles

No formal qualifications required
Assessment procedure
Internally assessed portfolio and externally assessed moderated portfolio.
Qualification achieved
NCFE level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
Progression opportunities
Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills or equivalent. *Please note this is not a license to practice. Further professional training is necessary however this qualification will offer you the entry requirement to that next level.
