NVQ 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship

Course summary:

This course is designed to provide a thorough training in basic techniques of administration.

Course content:

The theory and practice of administration as detailed below in the units of the NVQ Level 2 qualification:
     Unit 102 Health & Safety in the Workplace
     Unit 201 Support the work of your team
     Unit 202 Plan, organise and improve your work
     Unit 203 Communicate information using telephone and fax
     Unit 204 Prepare and print documents using a computer
     Unit 206 Enter, retrieve and print data in a database
     Unit 207 Provide effective customer service
     Unit 213 Support the use of Information Technology

Optional units may vary according to work placement and/or personal preferences. Other units within the course will include work on key skills (depending upon previous academic results) and industry standard technical certificates.

Course structure:

Trainees will be based at an approved employer, and will attend college one day per week to augment the training they are receiving at their work based placements. 

Entry requirements:

Although there are no formal entry requirements, trainees must be at least 16 years of age.
All applicants need to be employed in an appropriate role and will have a personal interview at the college.

Qualifications achieved:

Successful trainees will be awarded the NVQ Level 2 Administration Certificate. This is a National Vocational Qualification (N.V.Q.) awarded by the OCR Examinations Board. It is based upon the practical requirements of the business sector.

Progression opportunities:

There is a constant demand for qualified and experienced clerical, secretarial, administrative and IT staff within a wide range of industries including the medical and legal professions, banking, local government and the health service. These large employers offer increased opportunities for promotion.
