Entry Requirements top

This course covers all the material for Chief Mate/Master written examinations (previously Class II/1). It is your responsibility to ensure that all the entry requirements for the course and entry to the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) examinations are met prior to attending the course.

This includes:

1. Not less than 12 months sea service as a watch-keeping officer whilst holding an OOW Certificate of Competency (CoC). 

2. Discharge book entries verifying sea service.

3. Watch-keeping certificates to support all watch-keeping sea service. For sea time assessment log onto www.mcga.org.uk, where you can apply on-line for Notice of Eligibility.

Professional Opportunities top

With further sea service candidates are eligible to enter the oral examination for the Masters Certificate of Competency. Refer to MSN 1856.
