This programme is designed for adults wishing to pursue a career in the digital world of work equipping them with the skills and knowledge required in this vast growing industry.
Over the course of the one year programme you will explore areas such as computer systems, analysis and design, computer programming, web design, I.T security, digital animations and networking. The course is also designed to develop academic skills to enable learners to progress to higher education study.
The Access programme is designed to:
promote the skills required for learner self-confidence and further study
encourage learners to consider a career in education and training
reward the achievement of learners for the skills that they have developed
Study Skills and Further Study Skills
GCSE English and maths at grade C or above and a successful interview with one of the course team.
Assessment is continuous and all assignments are produced by the awarding body Ascentis. Assessment is conducted through a combination of written assignments, reports, practical investigations and externally set controlled assessments and exams.
Successful learners can either apply to universities through the UCAS system or choose to stay on at South Tyneside College and study towards the Foundation Degree in Computing. Full advice and guidance will be offered to learners throughout the programme of study.
Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma is for learners aged 19+ who do not have the qualifications required to enter higher education.
The Access to Higher Education programme is delivered over 3 full days at college.
The programme will commence on Monday 11th September 2017.
