Overview top

This course will be completed with distance learning; initial contact will be made to the college and a learning pack supplied to complete. Contact will be made with your assessor via e-mail or telephone. On enrolling you will be given a completion date for final submission of the work towards your qualification.

This course is suitable for those interested in, or working in health and social care settings with adults. You will develop the understanding of person-centred approaches for care and support and be able to implement the approaches to work in a person-centred way. Person centred approach is a fundamental principle of adult social care and includes; promoting independence, dignity, choice, rights and respect, privacy, partnership working, individuality and equality and diversity.

Entry Requirements top

Experience of working in the health and social care sector is desirable however not essential, as it can also be accessed by those interested in the field of Health and Social care or could provide a continued professional development opportunity. There are no formal entry requirements but candidates should be prepared to write assignments and commit to study away from college.

Assessment top

A portfolio of evidence will be produced to meet the learning outcomes expected in the qualification, these will be returned to college via e-mail by the candidate and feedback will be returned in the same way.

Professional Opportunities top

Completion of this course could lead to further study within the health and care sector. Potential employment opportunities may include; care assistant in residential settings or supported living, healthcare support workers in community and primary care environments and healthcare assistants in acute health environments.
