AMERC Electronic Principles and Applications is a 3 week, full time course of study which is a core component of the academic requirement for an ETO Certificate of Competency.

It is also an essential pre-requisite for anyone wishing to attend the college to acquire either the AMERC GMDSS Radio Maintenance certificate and/or the AMERC Electronic Navigation Equipment Maintenance (ENEM) certificate.

Entry Requirements top

Although there are no formal entry requirements, this is an academic course and as such mathematical ability is required.

It is advised that anyone who does not have a level three mathematics qualification should first study the 2nd Engineers Distance Learning Module available from the college. Successful completion of this module will greatly assist the understanding of this topic.

Assessment top

The course assessment is by a 2 hour, formal end exam consisting of 12 questions.

A course certificate is not provided by AMERC. Upon successful completion of the examination a pass letter is provided by both the college and AMERC which is recognized by the MCA for CoC purposes.

Professional Opportunities top

Anyone who intends to attend the AMERC GMDSS Radio Maintenance certificate and/or the AMERC Electronic Navigation Equipment Maintenance (ENEM) courses will require this qualification before AMERC certification can be issued.

Successful completion of this course is a requirement for the UK Electro Technical Officer Certificate of Competency (ETO CoC).
