The Indian government is to begin the process of repatriating Indian Students who wish to return home. The decision as to whether to return home or stay will be a difficult one and whatever choice you make the college will give you whatever support it can to ensure that you complete your course of study. We hope the following information will be of help to you.

There has been some concern around travelling to London. LNER are running regular train services to London Kings Cross from Newcastle albeit on a reduced timetable and with reduced customers in each carriage to maintain social distancing. You can view timetables and book train tickets at

In deciding whether or not to return home you should include the following in your decision making.

The MCA are starting to do online orals examinations for Engineer OOW from next week with Deck OOW planned from the beginning of June. They are focusing on first certificates of competency and only those candidates who have already booked an oral examination. If you haven’t already booked then it could be some time before you get an appointment.

  • The college is currently closed and we are unable to offer any practical training such as Workshops and STCW courses. Although we are planning to open as soon as we can it is likely we will remain closed until at least June.
  • Visas:  The UK Visas and Immigration have arrangements in place for students with visas expiring up to 30/05/2020 and these will be updated as the current situation continues.  Other visa concessions are being considered and you are advised to check the government guidance at:
