Overview top

This course fits into the AAT framework as follows: Processing Bookkeeping transactions (PBKT) Control accounts, journals and the banking system (CJBS) Basic Costing (BCST)  Computerised accounting (CPAG)  Work effectively in accounting and finance (WKAF)

Exam fees

Please note you may only pay exam fees online if you are a student of South Tyneside College and have approval from your lecturer. We do not accept external candidates.

Entry Requirements top

You do not need any formal qualifications to start the scheme.

Assessment top

Students are assessed by computer based assessment: Students must complete all units to achieve the qualification.

Professional Opportunities top

Successful completion may enable progression to Level 3.

Apply for an AAT Bursary

You can apply for an AAT Bursary up to £5,000 per student if you are looking to study an AAT qualification. The bursary fees will cover the AAT Level(s) mentioned above and students are not expected to pay any of the bursary money back.


To be eligible to apply for a bursary, you must be:

  • 16 years old or over
  • a UK resident and wish to study here
  • able to demonstrate that you're in genuine financial need
