This course has been developed to meet this upcoming demand for skills in esports. The qualifications include a breadth of transferable skills that enable learners to experience different areas of esports to aid their progression to employment, either directly or via further study.

Esports offers a unique opportunity to study a sector that crosses over multiple subject areas such as sport, marketing, enterprise, IT and the creatives. It provides an opportunity for alignment of social, physical, mental and financial skills into one qualification to deepen and expand learning. These are skills that are highly valued in the changing and fluid workplace.

Learners must apply strategy, skill and teamwork to be successful. The Level 3 Foundation Diploma is taught across one year and it is the equivalent to 1.5 A-levels. Students completing this course may progress onto the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Esports the following year.

Entry Requirements top

Entry requirements for this course are five GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above, including Maths and English. Alternatively, a full level 2 qualification in an appropriate subject (such as Creative Digital Media) will also gain entry to study this programme.

Assessment top

The course is split into several units each assessed by different assignments, which are set and marked by the course tutors, using a variety of assessment methods. While studying on this course you will study the following mandatory units:

  • Introduction to Esports
  • Esports Skills, Strategies and Analysis¬†
  • Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in the Esports Industry
  • Health, Wellbeing and Fitness for Esports Players.

Alongside these you will study three optional units, which could include:

  • Live-streamed Broadcasting
  • Producing an Esports brand
  • Video Production
  • Games Production
  • Business Applications of Esports in social media
  • Shout casting
  • Esports Coaching
  • Psychology for Esports Performance
  • Nutrition for Esports Performance
  • Ethical and Current issues in Esports
  • Corporate and social responsibility Sport
  • Sports and Esports Law and Legislation
  • Launching your Esports Enterprise

Professional Opportunities top

The primary focus for learners who successfully complete the course will have the opportunity to progress onto the second year of the level 3 programme, the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Esports, which upon completion could possibly lead to study at Higher Education/University or employment.

Some Learners may progress directly into employment in following the completion of this course.
