Overview top
This programme is designed to give you a broad understanding and knowledge of music with particular focus on music performance. Over the course of the programme you develop and focus on your music performance skills as well as gaining knowledge on music production and the music industry. You will also have the opportunity to take part in college performances and have the chance to attend workshops and masterclasses provided by world-renowned musicians.

Modules are internally assessed with the exception of an externally set assessment for one of the core modules.
Professional Opportunities top
Successful learners can apply to continue studying on one of our level 3 music programmes here at South Tyneside College. Full advice and guidance on progression routes and opportunities will be offered throughout the programme.
You will gain industry experience by performing in numerous shows both internally in our performance venue as well as externally at music venues around the borough.
Each year there are workshops and masterclasses with professional musicians from the industry. Recently we have had Steve White (Paul Weller, The Who and Oasis), John Waugh (The 1975) and Yolanda Charles (Mick Jagger, Robbie Williams, and Nicole Scherzinger) into the department to chat and play for the students.
