A former South Tyneside College T Level Health student is taking the next step towards his dream career after progressing to study Adult Nursing at the University of Sunderland.
Ryan successfully completed the Level 3 T Level in Health, specialising in Supporting the Adult Nursing Team, achieving a Distinction and using the knowledge, practical skills and industry placement experience gained during the course to secure his place at university.
His success comes as South Tyneside College celebrates another exceptional year for its T Level Health programme, with a 100% pass rate achieved by both first and second-year cohorts.
Ryan said:
The T Level gave me both classroom learning and hands-on experience in healthcare. Having placements in real healthcare settings helped me build confidence and confirmed that nursing was the career for me.
The practical placement element of Ryan’s course gave him the opportunity to apply his learning in real healthcare settings while developing the skills, professionalism and confidence needed for a career in nursing.

His placement supervisors were full of praise for his contribution, describing him as “a true asset” and adding that they believe he “will go far”. They also highlighted his patience, person-centred approach and strong communication skills, noting that he was always willing to help and get involved.
Health Lecturer, Ruth Hobson said:
Ryan's achievement reflects the dedication and professionalism he demonstrated throughout his studies. His commitment to learning, willingness to embrace placement opportunities and passion for patient care made him a standout student. We're delighted to see him progressing to university and pursuing a career in nursing.
Ryan’s achievement forms part of a highly successful year for the College’s T Level Health provision.
All second-year T Level Health students successfully completed their programme, resulting in a 100% pass rate. The success continued across the first-year cohort, where all students also passed.
Ryan was among a small number of learners nationally to achieve a Distinction in the qualification, highlighting both his individual commitment and the strength of the programme’s industry-focused approach to learning.
Inspired by Ryan’s journey? T Levels combine classroom learning with meaningful industry placements, helping students develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed for university, apprenticeships and employment.
