The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Preparation for Public Services offers a specialist focus on Law and Public Services. It’s an ideal starting point for learners working at Level 2 who have a keen interest in wanting to start a career in Public Services, Law, Criminology or Forensic Science.

The course uses a blended learning approach, mixing classroom theory with hands-on experience, developing you with the skills and knowledge needed for a career in this field.
This course acts as a direct pathway into our Level 3 and potentially Level 4 programmes in Criminology and Forensic Science. It provides an excellent opportunity to develop academic skills, work towards achieving GCSE Maths and/or English if needed, and build the knowledge and confidence required for successful progression to higher levels of study.
- GCSE English Language at grade 4 (C) or above
- GCSE Maths at grade 3 (D) or above
However, if you have a keen interest in the subject and commitment to succeed, your entry requirements will be discussed at interview.
The course is accredited by BTEC. The units will be assessed in a variety of forms, including written assignments, project work presentations, group work and practical-based assessment.
The work completed in each unit is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.
Learners will study a mixture of mandatory and optional units which have been carefully selected to give them the best opportunity to exceed in a future in the criminal justice / forensic sector.
In addition, learners will develop transferable and practical skills in communication, professional behaviours in the workplace, reflective practice and preparing for interviews to secure employment.
