BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma In ESPORTS

COURSE OVERVIEW

Esports is defined as organised competitive gaming, which is human versus human, either as individuals or in teams. The esports industry is a fast-growing global industry and was an industry worth $1.79 billion in 2022.
This course has been developed to meet this upcoming demand for skills in Esports.
The qualifications include a breadth of transferable skills that enable learners to experience different areas of Esports to aid their progression to employment, either directly or via further study at University.
Esports offers a unique opportunity to study a sector that crosses over multiple subject areas such as sport, marketing, enterprise, IT and the creatives. It provides an opportunity for alignment of social, physical, mental and financial skills into one qualification to deepen and expand learning. These are skills that are highly valued in the changing and fluid workplace.

The Level 3 Foundation Diploma is taught across one year and it is the equivalent to 1.5 A-levels.
Students completing this course may progress onto the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Esports the
following year.

We know that having good qualifications alone doesn’t always make you stand out.
That’s why we’re all about going the extra mile with you.
Studying with us means practical, hands-on workshops, group sessions, expert guest speakers, visits to
local employers, wellbeing drop-ins, chill out time … the list goes on.
As part of the course, you will also take part in an external work placement to help you develop your
confidence and skills to stand out from the crowd.

Entry requirements for this course are five GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above, including English.
Alternatively, a full level 2 qualification in an appropriate subject (such as Creative Digital Media) may also gain entry to study this programme. Although not essential it would be expected that must also have a strong interest or passion for video games.

The course is split into a number of different units each focusing on a different aspect of Esports. Each unit is assessed through assignments, which are set and marked by the course tutors, using a variety of assessment methods.

The primary focus for learners who successfully complete the course will have the opportunity to progress onto the second year of the level 3 programme, the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Esports, which upon completion could possibly lead to study at Higher Education/University or employment.
