NCFE CACHE Diploma Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings Level 1 16-18
OVERVIEW
This qualification will help you to develop the knowledge and awareness of the types of provision in the Health, Social Care and Children and Young Peoples sectors. It includes the roles played by workers in the sector- from principles and values through to health and safety, and equality and diversity in working with others. The qualification is appropriate for anyone considering a career in health and/or social care, with adults or children and young people.
This is a one-year, full-time course.
Modules/Topics covered:
Studying the Diploma allows the learners to explore more specialised units, such as working with those who have Dementia, or mental health challenges. It also allows for an introduction to children’s development and learning through play.
To join the Level 1 programme, learners must have a range of GCSE subjects to include a minimum of GCSE grade 2 in English and GCSE grade 2 in maths.
The course will be assessed through a range of methods including written tasks, poster work, practical activity etc. in line with the NCFE CACHE required outcomes.
On successful completion, with appropriate behaviours and attendance, it may be possible for learners to progress onto the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Diploma in Care, or the NCFE CACHE L2 Certificate in working with children in early years and primary settings. However, due to the generic nature of the qualification, it will be a good base for any career working with others.
For students aged 16-18 who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths or English, these subjects will be included in your timetable along with your main course. Improving your skills in Maths and English is essential, as these qualifications open doors to further study and career opportunities.
Our teaching team will work with you to help you achieve the grades you need, building confidence in these key areas to support your future success.
All 16-18 students must study maths and/or English as part of their main study programme, there is no option to study maths and/or English on its own.
Students will be required to complete a full study programme, including the main programme, preparation for the world of work, enrichment activities, and the continuation of maths and English to a GCSE level for those who need it.
