CACHE Level 2 Diploma in Care

OVERVIEW

This full time qualification develops the knowledge and understanding needed when working within the health care sector. It aims to guide and assess the development of practical skills for those who wish to work in a supervised support role within the healthcare workforce. This qualification would give potential employees the knowledge required to enter the NHS.

A variety of essential areas of health and social care are studied including;

  • Communication
  • Equality and diversity
  • Safeguarding
  • Personal development

The qualification also focuses on the skills and knowledge of infection prevention and control in health and social care settings.

As well as undertaking 200 hours of placement within a health and social care setting and carry out a range of observation to access competencies.

This is a one-year, full-time course.

GCSE English Language – Grade 4
GCSE Maths – Grade 3

The course is assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence or written assignments.

On successful completion of this one year programme learners may progress to the CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care.

Potential Career Routes

This qualification may facilitate direct entry into the NHS as it forms the basis of the Knowledge and Skills Framework that all new NHS staff have to complete and all existing staff have to undertake for their personal development.

Job roles can include; Care assistant in residential settings or supported living. Healthcare support workers in community and primary care environments. Healthcare assistants in acute health environments. Care support workers and senior workers in domiciliary services.

For students aged 16-18 who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths or English, these subjects will be included in your timetable along with your main course. Improving your skills in Maths and English is essential, as these qualifications open doors to further study and career opportunities.

Our teaching team will work with you to help you achieve the grades you need, building confidence in these key areas to support your future success.

All 16-18 students must study maths and/or English as part of their main study programme, there is no option to study maths and/or English on its own.
