VTCT Skills Diploma – Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector Level 1 (16-18)

OVERVIEW

This VTCT level 1 Diploma qualification is an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector, the qualification has been specifically designed to develop you practical skills though introducing you to the hair and beauty industries and how you should present a professional image in the salon.

This particular qualification allows you to study either Hair and Beauty combined or Hairdressing only depending on your personal preference or career pathway for the future.

This course includes the following practical hairdressing services:

  • Working in the Hair Industry
  • Health and Safety in the Workplace
  • Client Consultation
  • Shampoo and Condition Hair
  • Apply temporary colour
  • Style and Dress Hair
  • Creating an image
  • Reception duties

This course is taught using a mixture of practical and theory lessons.

No entry requirements.

Achievement of a Practical Skills Assessment (where necessary).

The assessments for the qualification require the candidates to undertake:

  • Practical tasks
  • Practical assessments carried out on paying clients
  • Knowledge and understanding on-line tests and assignment work

Successful completion will allow progression to the Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing, or Beauty Therapy.

Kit will be provided. Work experience is necessary.

For students aged 16-18 who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths or English, these subjects will be included in your timetable along with your main course. Improving your skills in Maths and English is essential, as these qualifications open doors to further study and career opportunities.

Our teaching team will work with you to help you achieve the grades you need, building confidence in these key areas to support your future success.

All 16-18 students must study maths and/or English as part of their main study programme, there is no option to study maths and/or English on its own.
