City and Guilds Diploma – Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector Level 1 (16-18)

OVERVIEW

This qualification is intended to provide an understanding of the sector, and the vocational skills and knowledge required at level 1 standard.

It is an introduction to the hair and beauty sector and provides an awareness of the range of job opportunities and work settings within the industry and will enable candidates to make informed decisions regarding career paths in this exciting and vibrant industry.

During this course, all aspects of colouring and cutting will be covered, including:

  • 101: Intro to the hair sector
  • 102: Presenting a Professional Image
  • 003: Shampoo and condition
  • 004: Plaiting
  • 006: Skin care
  • 007: Hand care
  • 103: Styling Women’s hair
  • 215: Style and dress hair
  • 106: Basic make-up application
  • 109: Provide basic manicure treatment
  • 111: Colour hair using temporary colour
  • 113: Follow health and safety in the salon

This course is taught using a mixture of practical and theory lessons.

No entry requirements.

The assessments for the qualification require the candidates to undertake:

  • Practical tasks which will be observed
  • Knowledge and understanding assignments

Successful completion will allow progression to the Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing, Barbering or Beauty.

Kit will be provided. Work experience is necessary.
