Music and Performing Arts, Level 1

OVERVIEW

The UAL Level 1 Diploma in Music, Performing and Production Arts is designed for students who are passionate about music, performance or production and want to develop their skills in a practical, supportive environment.

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to build on your existing interests, this hands-on course introduces you to the key skills, techniques and creative processes used within the performing arts industry.

Delivered by experienced tutors, you’ll work on exciting practical projects that develop your confidence, creativity and teamwork while helping you discover which area of the creative industries is right for you.

This qualification is awarded by the University of the Arts London (UAL) Awarding Body and is regulated by Ofqual.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. It is suitable for beginners as well as those with some previous experience.

Most applicants will attend an interview with a member of the teaching team. Students applying as singers will also be asked to attend a short audition to demonstrate their vocal ability.

Assessment is through practical projects, performances, coursework and the development of a creative portfolio. There are no formal written examinations.

Throughout the course you will receive regular feedback from tutors to support your progress and help you achieve your full potential.

After successfully completing the Level 1 Diploma, you may progress onto:

  • UAL Level 2 Music, Performing and Production Arts
  • Other Level 2 creative arts qualifications
  • Apprenticeships within the creative industries
  • Entry-level employment within music, performance or production

The course also helps develop valuable transferable skills including communication, confidence, organisation, teamwork and problem-solving that are valued by employers.

Students benefit from learning in industry-standard facilities alongside experienced tutors who have extensive knowledge of the music and performing arts industries.

Applications can be made online through the website or by attending one of our monthly Open Nights, held on the first Tuesday of every month.
