T Level in Building Services Engineering for Construction – Electrotechnical Engineering

COURSE OVERVIEW

T Levels are new courses which will follow GCSEs and will be equivalent to three A Levels.

Technical Qualification Structure

The technical qualification is made up of two components, both of which need to be successfully achieved to attain the T Level Technical Qualification Building Services Engineering for Construction.

The Core Component:

The core content is designed to offer sufficient breadth of knowledge and skills for the learner to apply in a variety of contexts related to the industry and those occupational specialisms linked to this T Level.

Occupational Specialisms: Electrotechnical engineering

The purpose of this specialism is for learners to know and undertake fundamental electrotechnical systems engineering processes and procedures. Learners will have the opportunity to plan, perform and evaluate their work while using a range of materials, methods and techniques.

Learners will develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in:

  • Health and safety practices associated with carrying out electrotechnical systems engineering
  • Installation methods and termination of connections
  • Systems and products used in electrotechnical engineering
  • Analysing and using information to and from electrotechnical systems

• Removal processes as part of system decommissioning

 

A range of Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering

  • Essential mathematics for engineering and manufacturing
  • Essential science for engineering and manufacturing
  • Materials and their properties
  • Mechanical principles
  • Electrical and electronic principles
  • MechatronicsPaper 2 covers the following units:
  • Working within the engineering and manufacturing sectors
  • Engineering and manufacturing past, present, and future
  • Engineering representations
  • Engineering and manufacturing control systems
  • Quality management
  • Health and safety principles and coverage
  • Business, commercial and financial awareness
  • Professional responsibilities, attitudes, and behaviours
  • Stock and asset management
  • Continuous improvement
  • Project and programme management

You MUST be able to show proof of completion of the level 2 qualification in the relevant field of electrical installation (2365 or 8202) before application will be accepted for this T Level.

This course is examination based.

T Levels will combine classroom theory and practical learning, and are made up of the following:

  • Technical Qualification: the substantial component of your course.
  • Industry placement: of at least 315 hours (approximately 45 days) with an employer to make sure you have authentic experience of the workplace.

UCAS points to access Higher Education. This can be HNC or direct to university.
