South Tyneside College Launches Skilled 4 Life Programme with Our 1 Community

South Tyneside College, in partnership with Our 1 Community and The Enterprise Academy, has launched the Skilled 4 Life programme. This initiative aims to equip students with the personal development skills, work experience, and practical preparation for life after school.

As part of the programme, Uniformed Public Services (UPS) students are participating in social action projects, enhancing their communication and teamwork skills. They will also visit the Ministry of Defence to explore career opportunities in public service.

Performing Arts students are benefiting from additional dance and vocal training, as well as cultural experiences like attending performances such as War Horse. Meanwhile, students in the Teen Market programme will showcase their creative skills by selling products and performances at the South Shields Teen Market on November 29. All funds raised will go directly to the students.

After the market, students will join workshops with local social entrepreneurs, learning how to grow and scale their ideas.

In addition, Our 1 Community offers the Spotlight programme for young artists, providing paid gig opportunities, and the Don’t Dis My Ability programme, which empowers SEND students by helping them gain employment experience and advocate for positive change in local businesses.

These programmes, along with others, are designed to support students’ personal and professional growth, preparing them for future success.
