South Tyneside College is proud to host VTCT Skills Hair & Barbering Collective Live for the very first time on Tuesday 10th March, from 12.00pm–3.00pm.
This exciting and unforgettable event will bring together talent, education and artistry — uniting students, educators, employers and professionals who are passionate about the craft of hairdressing and barbering.
The afternoon will shine a spotlight on emerging talent, with four Level 4 Salon Management students — Jessica Wells-Auchterlonie, Fay Turbitt, Shauna Foster and Laura Robson — taking centre stage. Mentored through industry collaboration with Cloud Nine and in partnership with VTCT Skills and OSMO, the students will demonstrate their creativity, technical skills and professional growth while talking through the inspirations behind their work.
Collective Live also forms part of the learners’ Marketing and PR module, giving them invaluable real-world experience in planning, promoting and delivering a live industry event — preparing them for leadership roles within the sector.
Industry Collaboration in Action
We are delighted to be working closely with Cloud Nine as part of this landmark event.
Earlier this week, Naomi Horan, Head of Social & Partnerships at Cloud Nine, and Marie Nieuwoudt, Group Education Manager, visited the College to meet with participating students ahead of Collective Live. During the visit, they shared valuable industry insight, career advice and professional guidance, helping students prepare for the showcase event. Students were also presented with exclusive Cloud Nine goodie bags in recognition of their involvement.

The event will also welcome a number of leading industry organisations who will be in attendance to share expertise and inspiration, including:
I am incredibly proud of our Level 4 students for leading this event. They have developed exceptional technical skills, creativity and confidence throughout their course. This is more than just a showcase — it’s about inspiring the next generation of hair professionals and demonstrating the exciting and diverse future that lies ahead in this industry.
By hosting VTCT Skills Hair & Barbering Collective Live for the first time, South Tyneside College continues to strengthen its industry partnerships and provide students with meaningful, employer-led experiences that build confidence, professionalism and ambition.
