New Programme Helps Students Explore Careers in Music and Entertainment

Students from Hebburn Academy, Whitburn C of E Academy and South Tyneside College are taking part in ‘Amplify Your Future’, an exciting new programme delivered by Our 1 Community that aims to inspire the next generation of music and entertainment professionals.

The 12-week programme has been designed to give young people a greater understanding of the music and entertainment industry, helping them explore the wide range of career opportunities available while developing valuable skills and confidence along the way.

Participants recently attended an induction session, where they took part in a variety of discussions and activities aimed at exploring their existing knowledge of the industry, their interests, and what they enjoy most about music and performance.

The session was delivered by Sharlize, Project Coordinator for Our 1 Community, who introduced students to the programme and facilitated conversations around the role music plays in people’s lives, favourite genres, and the many career pathways available across the entertainment sector.

As one of the first programmes of its kind, Amplify Your Future aims to broaden students’ understanding of the industry through a series of practical activities, workshops and experiences, all designed to fit around existing school and college timetables. Through their participation, students will gain industry knowledge, build confidence, and develop a clearer understanding of potential future career opportunities.

South Tyneside College students have already joined the programme, with additional students expected to take part in the coming weeks as the project continues to grow.

Many young people are unaware of the vast range of careers available within the music and entertainment industries and the different routes into them. Amplify Your Future seeks to address this by providing meaningful experiences, industry insights and opportunities to engage with professionals working within the sector.

The programme will culminate in a celebration event on 16th December at The Ignition in South Shields, where participants will receive certificates of completion and have the opportunity to network with industry professionals, showcase what they have learned, and explore further opportunities within the industry.

We look forward to following the students’ journey and seeing how they progress throughout the programme.
