Inclusion Plans
At Tyne Coast College, we want every learner with SEND and/or an EHCP to feel supported, understood and set up for success.
For learners who require additional support or intervention beyond Quality First Teaching, we create a personalised Inclusion Plan.
An Inclusion Plan is a bespoke, evidence-based and person-centred support plan designed around your individual needs. Teaching and support staff use your Inclusion Plan to adapt their approaches, learning materials and the support they provide, ensuring you can access learning in the most effective and meaningful way.
This may include:
- Adjusting how information is presented
- Providing additional scaffolding or resources
- Delivering targeted interventions
- Making reasonable adjustments within the classroom
Support Plans
Every Inclusion Plan is tailored to the individual learner. To help us understand the support you may need, we may use information such as EHCPs, medical or assessment reports, previous support plans and exam access arrangements.
Your allocated SEND Advisor will regularly review your support and make adjustments where needed to ensure you continue receiving the right support throughout your time at college.
Our aim is to help you feel supported, develop independence and prepare confidently for adulthood.
Transition support
We work closely with learners, parents/carers, schools and external agencies to ensure a smooth and supported transition into college life.
- Bespoke campus visits and tours
- Transition events throughout the year
- Curriculum taster sessions
- Meetings with our SEND and ALS teams
- Personalised planning for learners with SEND and/or an EHCP
Our aim is to help every learner feel confident, supported and ready to succeed from day one.
Preparing for adulthood
We are committed to helping learners develop the skills, confidence and independence needed for adult life, employment and future progression.
Learners can access opportunities including:
- Work placements and work-related learning
- Careers education and guidance
- Enterprise and enrichment activities
- Independent living and travel training support
- Support with progression into employment, apprenticeships, higher education or adult services where appropriate
Our aim is to help every learner feel confident about their future and supported in achieving their goals.
ARE YOU A PARENT/CARER?
We work closely with parents, carers and external professionals to ensure learners feel supported throughout their journey at college.
STUDENT WELLBEING SUPPORT
Looking after your wellbeing is just as important as your studies.
Students can access a range of wellbeing support and online resources throughout their time at college.
